BC Farm Museum

Langley by the Hudson’s Bay Company. In recognition of this industry the BC Farm Museum in Fort Langley has been sharing the agricultural heritage of British Columbia since 1966.

The Museum began with Bruce Coleman donating his father’s high cut plough. Over the years the Museum has become the largest collection of pioneer artifacts in British Columbia. This collection of agricultural items covers a wide range of tractors and implements in all colours and sizes to a replicated farm kitchen and parlour. In between you will find a blacksmith shop; model steam engines; stationary engines; a textile room including sewing machines, spinning wheel, loom, and drum carder; a crop dusting airplane; Victoria carriages; photographs; McCormick sail reaper; and other labour-saving devices. Each of these artifacts has a personal story regarding its owner, location, and its journey to the Museum.

The Research Library, containing over 10, 000 publications, provides historical information, operating manuals, advertising samples, and documentation of cultural change over the years. Museum visitors are encouraged to take time to peruse this significant collection.

The Gift Shop has a delightful selection of memorabilia including wooden whistles, hats, t-shirts, scale models, maps, books, and wood crafts. Purchase one of these items and you will have an ongoing memory of your visit to the BC Farm Museum.

Many special Museum days are held during the year and on these days some of the tractors, stationary engines, windmill, saw mill engine, wind charger, and spinning wheel, loom, and drum carder are operating so everyone can experience the thrill of pioneer life.
